Fort Wayne, Indiana- The United States Attorney’s
Office announced the following activity:
PLEAS:
Ø James McClurg, 46, of Fort
Wayne, Indiana, tendered a plea of guilty to Magistrate Judge Roger Cosbey to the felony offense of manufacturing marijuana
plants. Magistrate Cosbey
is recommending that the district court accept the tendered guilty plea. Parties have 10 days in which to object to
the magistrate judge’s recommendation. These charges were filed as the result of an
investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Allen County
Police Department. This case is being
prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lovita Morris King.
If convicted in court, any
specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by the judge after a
consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing
Guidelines.
DISPOSITIONS:
Ø Charley Gonzalez, IV, 23, of Fort Wayne,
Indiana, was sentenced by Judge Theresa Springmann to
1 year of probation after pleading guilty to the felony offense of possession
of a firearm by an unlawful user of controlled substances. This case was the
result of an investigation by Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task
Force. This case was prosecuted by
Assistant United States Attorney Lovita Morris King.
Ø Miguel Zavala, 39, of Fort Wayne, Indiana,
was sentenced by Judge Theresa Springmann to 10
months imprisonment – time served, and 2 years of supervised release after
pleading guilty to the felony offense of conspiracy to possess with the intent
to distribute cocaine and marijuana. This case was the result of an
investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task Force. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United
States Attorney Lesley Miller Lowery.
Ø Brandon Edwards, 21, of Fort Wayne,
Indiana, was sentenced by Judge Theresa Springmann to
5 months imprisonment and 1 year of supervised release after pleading guilty to
the felony offense of making false statements in the purchase of a firearm.
This case was the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms, and Explosives. This case was
prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lesley Miller Lowery.
